Kathleen is running for re-election to the School Committee because:
Lexington’s schools are facing sustained enrollment
increases preK-12th grade. With a new and expanded Hastings and
a new Lexington Children’s Place recently approved by
voters, we need to now focus on the space needs at LHS - both in
the short term and in the long term with a plan for a new LHS.
Students are under stress. The School Committee this year is
taking much needed pragmatic steps in addressing this issue with
a new homework policy and plans for a later start time at LHS.
I will continue working to reduce the amount of stress our
children deal with every day.
Our continued enrollment increases are putting tremendous
pressure on the school budget. We need to meet the needs of our
students and satisfy tax payers that this is being done as
fiscally responsibly as possible.
